이탈리아가 이동 제한, 휴교령, 비필수 영업점 폐쇄 등 코로나 바이러스 확산 방지를 위해 고강도 제한 조처를 발효했습니다. 가장 피해가 심각한 북부 지역에서는 군인 배치, 야외 활동 추가 제한 등 다른 지역에 비해 강도 높은 봉쇄령을 시행하고 있는데요. 이곳에서 기독교 재난 구조 단체 '사마리아인의 지갑'이 의료 긴급 구호 중이라고 합니다. 북부 지역 크레모나 주에 의료 장비 20톤을 지원하고, 호흡기 치료 전문가 등 의사와 간호사 30명을 파견해 호흡기 병동, 중환자실 등 68개의 병상을 갖춘 야전 병원을 운영 중입니다.

Samaritan’s Purse: You know, the situation on the ground in Italy is just - it’s been decimated right now, especially the medical system due to this virus. And about a week ago, a little over a week ago, we were looking at the numbers and where it was surging there in-in northern Italy and we realized uh they were in trouble.

And so we reached out to their-their health officials there in the ministry of health and asked if they’d be interested in the capability that Samatran’s-Samaritan’s Purse has. And they came back “yes.”

그래서 지역의 보건 당국에 연락해서 사마리아인의 지갑의 활동에 관심이 있는지 물었습니다.

And so within days we sent our-our field hospital over there.
Just trying to make a difference to supplement
as you already mentioned on the program, just to help them out with the respiratory needs that they have their in the north and then also their ICU needs.

Anyone that’s gone in with the virus has died that went into the ICU. So we’re just there trying to make a difference and do that in the name of Jesus Christ.

Edward Graham: You know, this team we have we call them dart teams and they’re trained and they’re specialized to go out there in a time of crisis. But they’re made up of medical specialists and we can tailor this team based off to where they’re going.

But there are medical specialists in there and doctors uh and physicians and nurses that specialize in respiratory problems and then also ICU care.
So we went over there we’re expecting to do more respiratory but because the ICUs are so overwhelmed they’ve asked us to kinda switch to a 50-50 model within the hospital.

And right now um as we speak they’re accepting their first patients. It’s set up, it’s ready to go,
but these are specialists, like I said, and well-trained medical personnel that are-have practices or jobs back here in the U.S. but sign up on these teams we have here at Samaritan’s Purse to go.

When we send out the call, they’ll go at a moment’s notice. It’s unbelievable. They’re incredible people, willing to serve.
And this is just in the throat of the dragon right here. I mean, this is at the epicenter for the world, where the world
- and this is a world problem where the West -
I mean, most of the time nations will respond and go when there’s an epidemic or a problem somewhere, where there’s a disaster.

But right now the disasters are around the world. People have closed up their borders and so that’s why Samaritan’s Purse went. Italy needs help. No one else could respond. We had the capability and we’re going in Jesus’ name.

국경이 폐쇄됐습니다. 그래서 사마리아인의 지갑이 간 거죠.
이탈리아는 도움이 필요합니다. 다른 이들은 도울 수 없는 상태이고요.

Edward Graham: Oh they’ve been unbelievable. I mean the-the Italians are always known for their-they’re just being wonderful people and generous and sweet and caring and just uh loving people.

And we’re-they’ve been so gracious but they were just so, I think, relieved that someone heard their cries uh when they’re all the rest of the world like I said is just tightening up or either scared and can’t move um they were just so thankful that someone responded.

So they have sent their uh volunteer force, a civilian volunteer force that they have their in the country.
Their military helped us unload and set up. Again, they’ve just been so helpful.
They-they-they’re caring for us, cooking for us, giving us wonderful places for our staff to stay. Uh you couldn’t ask for more gracious and better hosts.

Edward Graham: And well, that’s - my father’s always said we’ll go to the heart of the problem and to the fire, we’ll run to it.
Now, we’re careful and we’re gonna be cautious, we’re taking uh, we just have a very talented team that’s used to working with infectious diseases. And, like you said, they had a lot of experience in fighting Elbola and a lot of lessons learned.

But this is what my father expects of the staff. We train to a certain level but we’re also taking instructions from the CDC, the World Health Organization.
We’re there - this team went over there knowing they’re gonna be there for a while.
Um they-they’re gonna be there for over a month at least and then they’re gonna have to-have to adhere to, you know, certain rules and regulations in order to come back and quarantine.

그러나 저의 아버지가 바라는 점은 이겁니다.
우리는 일정 수준의 훈련을 받았지만 CDC나 WHO의 권고 또한 따릅니다.
파견된 팀은 한동안 그곳에 있을 거예요.
적어도 한 달 동안 있을 거예요. 돌아왔을 때 격리 등 규칙과 규제를 충실히 지킬 겁니다.

So just unbelievable team that we have assembled that God has brought and uh entrusted us with.
Again, just the resources that we’re entrusted with, the people. It’s an impressive thing to watch.
