[앵커] 미국의 맥스 루케이도 목사가 온라인 교회를 통해 성도들을 격려합니다. 루케이도 목사는 코로나19 확산 방지를 위해 주일 예배가 중단되자 소셜 네트워크 서비스에 매일 말씀과 찬송, 기도 등을 올리고 있는데요. 처음에는 성도들에게 안부를 전하기 위해 시작했다고 합니다.

Max Lucado: (SLIGHT LAUGH) Yeah. Well, it didn’t start out to be daily.
I uh I decided to uh conduct an online church service uh the very first Sunday that uh our church building could not meet-our church building was closed and people couldn’t meet.
And uh and then on Monday I thought I’m just gonna check in and make sure people are doing well.

"매일 올리려던 건 아니었어요.
교회 건물에서 모일 수 없게 된 첫 주에 온라인 교회를 인도해야겠다고 결정했습니다.
월요일이 됐을 때는 사람들이 잘 지내는지 연락해야겠다고 생각했어요.

And then on Tuesday I felt the Lord give me another word.
And then Wednesday the same.
So I-it just turned into a daily ten or fifteen minutes uh checking in uh to just-just to send a verse or-or send a word or offer a prayer uh
and uh it’s-it’s a -it-it-it’s turned out I think to be an effective way to encourage people.

그리고 화요일에는 주님께서 다른 말씀을 주신다는 생각이 들었어요.
수요일에도 같은 마음이었습니다.
그래서 매일 10분~15분 정도 찬송이나 말씀, 기도를 보내게 됐죠.
사람들을 격려하는 효과적인 방법이 됐습니다."

[리포팅] 그는 위기의 때에 하나님의 음성에 더욱 귀 기울여야 한다고 전했습니다.

Max Lucado: Yeah. And thank you so much for-for saying that. I keep coming back to that. You know, Jesus was critical in His day of people who could forecast the weather but couldn’t read the signs of the times, remember?
And He urges us to evaluate the signs of the times.
So the question is, what is God saying?

"예수님은 날씨는 예측해도 시대의 징후를 읽지 못하는 사람들을 비난하셨습니다.
그리고 시대의 징후를 파악해야 한다고 촉구하셨습니다.
그렇다면 질문은, 하나님께서 하시는 말씀은 무엇인가?입니다.

I think God is saying - at least to my heart, to my heart - I have a feeling He’s saying this to the whole-the whole world, but at least to my heart,
He’s saying, Lucado, you put too much emphasis, too much trust in your bank account.
I mean, you-look what’s happened to the economy in one week.
And it’s been a shh-you know, I-I said, “Lord, I think I was trusting that too much.”
And He’s saying, “Trust me, trust me. Don’t trust your bank account. For crying out loud, it’s fragile.”

저는 하나님께서 전 세계에 이렇게 말씀하고 계십니다. 적어도 저에게는 그렇습니다.
너는 은행 계좌를 너무 중요하게 생각하며 너무 믿는다고요.
일주일 만에 경제계에 일어난 일을 보세요.
그래서 제가 계좌를 너무 믿고 있었음을 고백했습니다.
그러자 주님께서 나를 믿으라고 말씀하셨어요.
은행 계좌를 의지하지 말라고요. 진짜 그건 쉽게 사라질 수 있는 거죠.

And then number two, I think He’s saying to many of us uh you’re getting too much fulfillment.
You’ve made an idol out of entertainment.
Who would have ever imagined that uh basketball arenas would be empty during the month of March?
That the Masters would be postponed? That uh NBA and NHL games and seasons would be suspended and maybe cancelled?

두 번째는 우리가 너무 많은 성취를 이루려 한다고 말씀하시는 것 같아요.
엔터테인먼트에서 우상을 만들어냅니다.
3월에 농구 경기장이 텅 비어버릴 거라고 상상이나 해보셨나요?
마스터스 골프 대회가 연기되고, NBA, NHL가 중단됐는데 취소될 수 있는 상황을 생각해보셨습니까?

So I think the Lord is just saying, hey, come on, look back up to me.
Is this this the sign of End Times? I don’t-I-I-I kinda think so. I kinda think so.
I mean I uh I don’t know what else has to happen in order for our Lord to return.
But I do know He’s wanting to get our attention.
And I believe that when we’re all in heaven, not too long, uh there will be many people who say,
“You know what? The corona virus catastrophe finally brought me to my knees and I-I cried out to God and that’s when my-my soul was saved.”

주님께서 나를 돌아보라고 말씀하시는 것 같았습니다.
마지막 때의 징조일까요? 그런 것 같습니다.
우리 주님께서 돌아오시기 위해 다른 어떤 일이 더 일어나야 하는지 모르겠어요.
하지만 주님께서 우리의 관심을 원하십니다.
머지않아 우리가 천국에서 만났을 때, 이렇게 말하는 사람들이 있을 거예요.
'코로나 바이러스 사태가 결국 나를 무릎 꿇고 하나님께 부르짖게 했고, 나의 영혼이 구원받았어.'"

[리포팅] 또 바이러스 취약 계층 등 여러 사정으로 격리 중인 사람들의 고통과 어려움을 안타깝게 여기며 예수님께서 우리의 위로자가 되심을 강조했습니다.

Max Lucado: My heart really goes out to the very vulnerable people uh people who uh are elderly, people who are isolated from uh,
you know, their kids coming to see them. Uh a grandmother who’s kids uh live in the same town but she’s nervous about seeing them and so they were communicating by placing notes in the grandmother’s uh uh mailbox.

"나이 들어 연약해서 격리된 사람들을 생각하면 마음이 아픕니다.
자녀들이 그들을 방문하지만 한 할머니는 같은 동네에 사는 손자가 염려돼 우편함을 통해 편지를 주고받으며 소통한다고 합니다.

And said these are just kinda heart-rending stories uh and-and uh many-many - it-it’s just a new world. We’ve never had to face this before.

Uh one of the things I think we need to remember though is that the Holy Spirit is our Comforter, our Comforter. Jesus called him our Comforter. And-and we can turn to Him and say, “Oh comfort me, comfort me, Spirit, comfort me and be that who even though I’m isolated from people I’m not isolated from you. Would you be that Comforter?”

지금의 세상에나 있는 가슴 아픈 이야기죠. 이런 일을 겪어본 적이 없잖아요.
우리는 성령께서 우리의 위로자가 되심을 기억해야 합니다.
예수님은 자신을 위로자라고 부르셨습니다.
그분께 달려가서 말하세요. 성령님께 위로해 달라고 말하세요.
비록 격리되어 있더라도 당신으로부터 고립되지 않게 해달라고요.
그런 위로자가 되어 달라고 기도하세요.

Maybe this is an opportunity for us to develop a relationship with the Holy Spirit.
You know, Donald Trump called the coronavirus our invisible enemy.
But I would like to call the Holy Spirit our invisible ally.
He’s our friend and He will help us in these dark days.

지금은 우리와 성령님의 관계를 발전시킬 기회일지도 모릅니다.
트럼프 대통령은 코로나 바이러스를 보이지 않는 적이라고 불렀습니다.
그렇다면 저는 성령은 보이지 않는 동맹이라고 부르고 싶습니다.
그분은 우리의 친구이시며 이 어둠의 때에 우리를 도우실 겁니다."
